Karin is the Senior Manager of DEI at LAIKA, a pioneering stop-motion animation studio in the Portland, Oregon area. With over 10 years of experience leading inclusion-related strategies and programs, Karin is skilled in culture development, trauma-informed organizational transformation, relationship building, training and adult learning, and employee engagement.
Karin started her career in academia as a professor of psychology teaching graduate students about equitable and culturally responsive practices in counseling. She has also published and presented on identity development and intercultural communication across the world and influenced policy and practice during her time in local government. With her training and cross-sectoral experiences, she has been able to apply her expertise in multiple industries, bringing innovative and adaptable solutions to complex and ever-changing environments. Karin has a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master of Education from Columbia University Teachers College.
